This is an outdoor super rad and nearly hidden spot ;) Here's how to get there: I-89: Take Exit 8 off I-89. Once off the exit, take a left at the 2nd traffic light onto Bailey Ave. Cross the bridge, then take a right onto State Street. After you pass the State House on your left, take the second left onto Elm Street. Go through two 4-way stops, then take the first left onto Winter Street. Follow Winter St. up a steep hill, around a sharp curve to the left, then straight up hill into Hubbard Park. After entering the park gates (road turns to gravel), look for a driveway going uphill on your right called the “Old Shelter Rd.”

On the final evening of the festival, a lineup of great local musicians play a series of shows in City Hall Park. This event has been organized in collaboration with the Vermont Blues Society as a tribute to the late saxophonist Joe Moore, who passed earlier this year. Joe Moore was a longtime player at Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, going all the way back to the very first festival in 1984. Just last year, he performed as part of Myra Flynn’s closing night performance on the Flynn Main Stage, then played a show immediately after at the Main Street block party to close out the 40th annual jazz festival. This tribute concert honoring Joe Moore’s legacy and influence features many local musicians who played with him over the years, including Pork Tornado, Dwight & Nicole, Myra Flynn, All Night Boogie Band, and Left Eye Jump “House Band.”

Joining her on the Flynn’s Main Stage is festival curator and performer Adi Oasis and singer Melanie Charles. This event is free for all and includes students from local schools in attendance.

The Bandwagon Summer Series is a family-friendly outdoor cultural performance series running from early May through mid-October. 20 performances ranging from a diverse group of musical styles, circus arts, dance, and theater will take place at ballfields, farms, and parks throughout Windham County. Kids under 12 always get in for free, and a dedicated play area will be available at all shows. Refreshments are sold onsite, including the return of the hugely popular Barr Hill cocktails. Bring a picnic and a blanket or fold-up chair to enjoy our concerts.

At Homegoings: A Live Performance, a handful of artists from season 1 of the podcast will take to the stage to gift us their art, and welcome all into brave conversation in a Q&A. We’ve already announced some of our amazing guests, including Ash Diggs, Kiah Morris and Saidu Tejan-Thomas Jr.

Like last year, we will film this event and turn it into a five-part video series to air on Vermont Public's main television station and to live on demand in perpetuity and awesomeness for you viewing whenever you want.

And this happening soon! We'll be live on Feb. 17, at @chandlercenterforthearts in Randolph, Vermont. I'll be hosting. You'll be feeling things. It will be great. In a world inundated with podcasts about, well, pretty much anything you can think of, this is the kind of thing that makes this podcast unique. Myra is coming home for an inspiring night of music and celebration with a vinyl release concert! The Chandler Music Hall stage is the stage Myra grew up on; it's the very first she ever sang on. Join Myra and her full band as she brings you along a musical journey filled with her unique blend of lyrical storytelling and soulful sounds.

Shadow Work is her first album release in four years, and is inspired by all that has happened in that time, including the wild, world-altering and wonderful experience of becoming a mother. Vinyl copies of Shadow Work will be available for sale at the door, and Myra will be signing them in the gallery for you after the show!

We’ll explore familiar melodies, bring some jazz flair to a holiday classic, and enjoy Flynn’s soulful voice as she brings to life Christmas carols, folk music, and one of her own original compositions. We’ll also spotlight VSO Assistant Concertmaster Kathy Andrew as our violin soloist for Vivaldi’s enchanting piece.

An audience holiday sing-a-long is included! This concert is conducted by VSO Music Director, Andrew Crust.
